Welcome to Year 4!
Miss O’Kell is the class teacher in Year 4 Monday to Thursday. A Friday is covered by Mrs Peacock and two specialist teachers in PE and French. Our Teaching Assistants who help support our learning are Miss Wood, Mrs Bell and Mrs Mavi.
The ethos of Year 4 is to work hard but always with a smile on our face!
We are very lucky that in Year 4 we learn about a variety of exciting topics, ranging from World War II, Mountains & Volcanoes, Electricity and The Romans.
Spellings are given out on the half termly homework menu and the children are tested on a Thursday afternoon. We also choose a reading book from the class library or school library as we encourage reading for pleasure!
We like to work hard in Year 4 and our outstanding behaviour, effort and work is recognised in various ways. We are proud to earn points for our team houses linked to our schools Code of Conduct, e.g. showing good manners and being respectful. Dojo points are individually awarded for class based activities, e.g. excellent participation and resilience during tasks.A ‘Star of the Week’ certificate is also presented during Whole School Assembly to a member of Class 4 who has excelled or stood out from the rest of the class whether that be for effort, behaviour or attitude.
We try to promote independent learning, by completing homework, practising spellings and times tables, reading and changing our individual and library books and generally organising ourselves more independently in preparation for Years’ 5 & 6.
We hope you have enjoyed reading about Year 4 and don’t forget to keep checking our page for photos and videos of our exciting adventures!
